Frequently Asked Questions

Who can take a class?

Anyone and everyone! We want to share the art of glass with as many people in our community as possible. Whether you're an experienced artist looking for a place to make work, or you just want to try something new. We've got a wide array of programming to suit your needs.

Is there an age requirement?

Anyone over the age of 5 can take a class at Charm City Glass House. Children under 10 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Why can't I take my piece home with me?

Fused and lampworked pieces are made using really high temperatures. When glass is removed from those high temperatures it starts cooling immediately. The outside cools faster than the inside, creating high tension, which leads to spontaneous cracking and breaking.  Annealing relaxes this tension and prevents your works of art from shattering.

Stained glass pieces are not brought up to those same high temperatures and therefore do not need to be annealed.

When can I pick up my piece?

Lampworked and fused pieces need time to cool down. Your pieces can be picked up 48 hours after your session. Please refer to our business hours. Pieces cannot be picked up if we are not open.

What should I wear and what should I bring with me?

Please wear closed toed shoes. Long hair should be pulled back and avoid any long scarves or baggy sleeves. Bring water, it's important to stay hydrated!
